An LED mirror is one of the easiest ways to make a bathroom feel finished. But the wrong size can make a basin look lost, or a wall look crowded. This guide walks you through choosing the right width, height, shape and lighting, and how to measure for a made-to-measure mirror.
1. Start with the width of your basin or vanity
The simplest rule: your mirror should be the same width as your basin or vanity, or a little narrower. Leaving about 5–10 cm free on each side keeps the wall looking balanced.
- Small basin (40–60 cm): a round, capsule or arch mirror around 45–55 cm wide works well and keeps the space feeling open.
- Standard vanity (60–90 cm): a rectangular or arch mirror between 55 and 80 cm wide is the usual choice.
- Double or long vanity (100 cm and up): choose one long horizontal mirror, like a vanity mirror, or two matching mirrors, one over each basin.
2. Choose the right height
Most bathroom mirrors are between 70 and 100 cm tall. Hang the bottom edge about 15–25 cm above the basin or tap, and aim for the centre of the mirror to sit roughly at eye level for the people who use it most. If your ceiling is low, a slightly shorter, wider mirror will look better than a tall, narrow one.
3. Pick a shape that suits your space
- Rectangular: clean and practical, and the best fit for wide vanities.
- Round: softens a bathroom full of straight lines and tiles.
- Arch: adds height and a modern, elegant feel, especially over a single basin.
- Organic and sculptural shapes: a statement piece for a powder room or guest bathroom.
You'll find these shapes across our Luminous Collection of LED bathroom mirrors and our Sculptural Collection of arch and organic mirrors.
4. Backlit or front-lit?
Backlit mirrors have the light behind the glass, so it glows softly onto the wall around the edge. They create a warm, relaxing mood and look beautiful at night.
Front-lit mirrors shine light through the glass towards your face, which is more practical for shaving, skincare and makeup.
If the mirror is your main light for getting ready, front-lit is usually the better choice. If you want atmosphere, go backlit.
5. Check the electrical point
An LED mirror needs a power point near where it will hang. Before ordering, check where your wiring comes out of the wall so the mirror can cover it neatly. A qualified electrician should always do the final connection in a bathroom.
6. How to measure for a made-to-measure mirror
- Measure the width of your basin or vanity.
- Measure the free wall space above it, from the top of the tap or basin to the ceiling or any tiles you want to keep visible.
- Note any obstacles, such as cabinets, shelves, switches or a window.
- Decide on the width and height using the guide above, then send us your size in centimetres (width × height).
Every Reflectra Studio mirror is made to measure, so you don't need to settle for a standard size. Our LED mirrors use imported glass, come with touch sensor controls, and carry a 3-year warranty on the lights and touch panel. Delivery is free all over Pakistan.
